PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE IN ACUPUNCTURE. MIDDLESEX UNIVERSITY LONDON

This programme is designed around and follows the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) Standards of Education and Training for Acupuncture (SETA). We are currently seeking course accreditation by the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board. Subject to BAAB approval, graduates will be automatically eligible to apply for full membership of the British Acupuncture Council, the UK’s largest body of professional acupuncturists.

Based on each individual’s current career, professional knowledge and previous training, we will tailor your study in a way that best suits your needs, whilst ensuring attainment of the BAcC’s requirements of producing graduates who are competent, safe and caring practitioners in acupuncture practice. Therefore, the duration of each individual’s training is varied and flexible, as it may be possible to offer exemptions from some aspects of study based on previous learning.

During this intensive training course you will be given a thorough grounding in the principles and applications of acupuncture, including the following aspects:

• Theory of Yin & Yang, five elements, tongue diagnosis, pulse diagnosis etc.
• Meridians, acupuncture points and traditional needling techniques.
• Moxibustion, cupping, electro-acupuncture, ear acupuncture and scalp acupuncture.
• Commonly seen clinical conditions underpinned by knowledge and understanding of current Western medical practices.

Based at our Hendon Campus in London, you will benefit from our dedicated facilities for laboratory work and clinical skills, including our acupuncture teaching clinic (Asanté clinic) and NHS acupuncture pain clinics at the Royal Free, Whittington and North Middlesex hospitals.
