The programme offers a fast-track route to a professional qualification and is one of the most successful heritage programmes internationally. Two specialist pathways are available leading to different awards:
The Education and Interpretation pathway aims to provide an understanding of the theoretical and practical basis of heritage education and interpretation at a local, national and international level. It focuses on the relationship between heritage education and interpretation on the one hand, and tourism, the media and general heritage management on the other.
The Management pathway is designed to provide you with a good understanding and working knowledge of the challenges and opportunities faced by heritage managers looking after heritage resources and sites in urban and rural contexts. Graduates from this programme can pursue a career in the heritage sector or conduct further research.
Both pathways have a tailored eight-week employer-based placement normally at a heritage site or heritage organisation.
