Current government policy is creating significant changes in curriculum, and teaching and learning in all areas. As a result of these changes it is becoming clear that there will be opportunities for teachers to develop areas of the curriculum beyond the constraints of the current National Curriculum.
Teachers and lecturers in FE and HE also continue to face changing demands in relation to curriculum and pedagogy, often driven by the desire to improve the student learning experience
This new Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) programme is designed to provide effective postgraduate professional development in the field of innovation in curriculum and pedagogy through practitioner enquiry.
The focus on the programme will be on applying research knowledge, much of it related to: research skills; Learning 2 Learn; formative assessment; and collaborative group and enquiry-based learning. You will become skilled in both analysing existing curriculum and developing new innovative curriculum units.
The programme builds on a strong research base in the Research Centre for Learning and Teaching (CfLaT) at Newcastle University and the experience of tutors who have substantial experience of teaching, research and consultancy in pedagogy and curriculum.
