Medical Leadership in Clinical Settings. University of Brighton
- This new course is an innovative collaboration between the KSS School
of Clinical Leadership and Education Department, the Division of Medical
Education at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School, and KSS local
education providers (LEPs). The course has been developed by experts in
clinical leadership, education and academic research.
- This MA will
help postgraduate doctors develop as leaders by focusing on the
everyday challenges they face in their clinical practice in the NHS.
-
It is designed to engage participants (postgraduate doctors) in service
evaluation and improvement projects that will make a positive
contribution to patient care and safety in the NHS organisations in
which they work. This will appeal to the KSS LEPs both as a way of
building closer links with the postgraduate doctor community in their
hospital, and as a means of furthering quality improvement.
-
Graduates of this couse have knowledge and skills to give them a
competitive edge in applying for consultant posts and in furthering
their careers.
- The reflective aspect of this MA supports
clinicians in developing strategies for personal and professional
resilience and flexibility as leaders and change agents in the NHS, as
well as preparing them to support colleagues in being resilient in the
face of change.
