This programme is designed to have maximum impact on teachers' classroom performance and on raising standards in schools. It aims to help teachers become:

  • experts in working with their colleagues on curriculum design and school improvement
  • highly accomplished in the production of evidence of improved teaching and learning strategies
  • able to undertake systematic classroom-based research
  • able to maximise their potential as teachers and learners in their immediate context
  • able to create a clear framework with which to continue their development and to make long term contributions to raising standards in schools
  • skilled in working closely with LEA officers and other local practitioners in order to spread best practice in teaching and assessment
