In Europe, the organisation and regulation of safety in civil aviation has undergone significant change. In September 2003 a single central body, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), was formed to undertake the regulatory role, including airworthiness. Greater emphasis toward the safety and proof of compliance with regulations will be placed on the aviation industry.
