Traditional biomedical engineering courses are concerned with applying engineering principles to healthcare, for example the engineering of artificial limb replacements. Biomedical engineering now embraces molecular science and cell biology, as well as tissue engineering, synthetic biology, biomimetics and biosimilars – leading to advancements that will revolutionise healthcare, such as telehealth.
