This course is for graduates with relevant experience, particularly in working with young people and provides students with real and substantial practice experience supported by links to current thinking and theory in the field. The course as a whole seeks to explore social education strategies and community development as a process of empowerment and there is a particular emphasis on understanding policies and practices which counter discrimination and promote equality. The course leads to a professional qualification validated by the National Youth Agency and recognised by the Joint Negotiating Committee of Youth Leaders and Community Wardens. There is a strong emphasis on professional placements and as a graduate you will be well placed to gain employment in sector agencies.
