Religious Education. University of Southampton

The Religious Education course aims to develop the attitudes, skills and understanding necessary to teach religious studies in secondary schools in accordance with the requirements of the Education Reform Act (1988), other recent legislation, and the Professional Standards for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

The course is designed to prepare students to deal with all aspects of Religious Education in a multi-cultural society. The course content includes discussions about the nature of religious education in schools and the social, emotional and cognitive and moral development of children, as well as the more practical aspects involved in teaching such as lesson planning and assessment.
