The MA provides advanced training in the study and analysis of language. It covers core areas within linguistics and gives particular attention to the research specialisms of tutors in the School of English.
Students undertake work in phonetics and phonology, lexis and semantics, morphology and syntax, and discourse and pragmatics. Areas in which students may choose to focus include clinical phonetics and phonology, stylistics, corpus linguistics and discourse analysis.
